Harley Takes LiveWire Public, Announces Second-Gen Electric Powertrain

Harley-Davidson announced plans to take its LiveWire brand public. This means it will be the first publicly-traded electric motorcycle company in the US.

Expectations are that the move will result in $545 million in proceeds. That money will be used for development. At the same time, Harley announced the second generation LiveWire electric powertrain called Arrow.

Cake Targets the Mobile Workforce

In a recent reveal at EICMA, Cake showcased versions of its Kalk, Osa, and Makka electric motorbikes that were targeted at mobile workers.

The bikes are known as the Work Series, and they’re targeted at working professionals who need something to transport themselves and materials for business purposes.

The bikes all utilize unique utility and luggage racks to make this happen. It’s a unique idea and one that I personally love.

TVS Will Launch an Electric Subsidiary

It appears TVS will have an electric branch soon. The company recently acquired Ego Movement, a Switzerland-based electric bicycle company. In July it announced a focus on electrified vehicles.

Now the company has announced it will launch its own TVS electric subsidiary. This subsidiary won’t just sell electric bikes, it will conduct business at every level from conception vehicles to sales.

TVS is a major player in the Indian motorcycle and scooter industry, and it owns many well-known brands including Norton.

Ducati and MotoE World Cup – Ducati Becomes Sole Supplier Starting 2023

Ducati doesn’t have a typical electric motorcycle just yet, but the company has committed to becoming the sole supplier for the all-electric MotoE World Cup starting in 2023.

The company’s agreement will put Ducati in the limelight with MotoE, which runs alongside MotoGP, from 2023 to 2026.

Previously, Energica was the company that filled this role, but it announced its partnership was coming to an end.

Kawasaki Motorcycles Is Going All-Electric by 2035

In a somewhat shocking move, Kawasaki said it’s going to make all of its bikes electrified by 2035 in developed countries.

According to a report by Nikkei Asia, Kawasaki wants to be the green leader in developed countries.

This move comes after the motorcycle company spun off of the parent company. This repositions the motorcycle business, but there are still huge hurdles ahead.

CAKE Delivered the Kalk AP for Anti-Poaching Efforts in Africa

Cake has delivered its first batch of electric anti-poaching bush bikes to Africa.

The motorcycles were delivered to the Southern African Wildlife College (SAWC). The SAWC is now using these bikes to increase the efficiency of combating poaching.

This is a great initiative by Cake and its motorcycles—specifically the Kalk—are uniquely positioned to make a difference here.

Curtiss Motorcycles Updated its OTC Filings

In 2018, Curtiss Motorcycles (formerly Confederate) changed its name and stock symbol and stopped reporting numbers. That triggered the Caveat Emptor with OTC Markets.

Now the electric motorcycle company has reported two fiscal years’ worth of data.

With this update, the company expects the Caveat Emptor status to be withdrawn.

Electric Motorcycle Company LAND Is Ready to Start Production

In an email, Scott Colosimo, CEO of LAND, stated that the company is ready to start production of its electric motorcycles.

This is very good news. I’m a huge fan of LAND and Scott’s. His former focus was Cleveland CycleWerks, but now he’s all-in on LAND.

Production will happen right here in the US. In Ohio, to be exact. The company secured funding to make this happen.

Cake Reveals a New Bike, the Makka

Cake has a new bike in its lineup called the Makka. This new bike is billed as a true commuting machine, and it sets itself apart from the Kalk and the Ösa that the company already sells.

The Makka is the third real design coming from Cake, and it looks like a good, purpose-built machine.

It’s built for the urbanite who needs something better than an electric bicycle but doesn’t need some big motorcycle either.
