God, I love mopeds and I don’t understand why more of them aren’t around. There are plenty of vintage mopeds, but not many new ones in the U.S. However, take a look over in other parts of the world and you’ll find some beautiful bikes like this TVS XL100 Heavy Duty. TVS is one of the biggest players in the motorcycle industry, especially in India where the beautiful TVS XL100 Heavy Duty is sold.
The company has several versions of the XL100, but the Heavy Duty is my favorite. The bike is a consummate commuter, featuring a 99.7cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine that’s mated to a centrifugal wet-type clutch with a single-speed gearbox. Power gets to the rear wheel via a chain drive. The step-through design and automatic transmission make this bike a lovely ride.

Hero Splendor Plus
If you know anything about the global motorcycle industry, then you know about Hero. However, the brand isn’t well-known in the U.S., and the company doesn’t sell bikes here. It’s a true shame because they make some seriously fantastic motorcycles. Case-in-point is the Hero Splendor Plus.
The motorcycle features classic standard motorcycle styling and riding position. It has modern technology like fuel injection but also keeps things simple with drum brakes.
