Moto Guzzi’s V85 won’t be alone for long. A street-focused version is coming and nobody is mad about that.
Moto Guzzi now has an adventure bike called the V85. A lot of people are thrilled about it. Rightfully so. The bike looks like it’ll be a real winner, but Moto Guzzi isn’t going to stop there.
The company has plans to put out a street-focused version of the bike, according to Italian motorcycle magazine, Motociclismo.
It sounds like the company is making the most of the design, to me.
New Application, Same Great V85 Engine
The V85 has a new 850cc engine. The chief of two-wheel product development for the Piaggio Group, Antonio Cappellini, told Motociclismo the use of that engine will feature in other bikes.
That means Moto Guzzi will have a new street bike with the V85’s 90-degree transversal-mounted V-twin engine.
The details on what the street bike will be are limited. That means your guess is as good as mine as to what the bike will be or look like. I would hope they’d just take the V85 and make it look less like a robotic duck.
I don’t find the V85—or any adventure bike for that matter—to be attractive. That said, adventure bikes are excellent at what they do. I’d love to see a modern scrambler that doesn’t hit too hard on nostalgia from Moto Guzzi. Only time will tell.
