For nearly three decades, Germany’s Radical Speedshop has been a beacon in the world of Moto Guzzi customization, and their latest masterpiece, the “Flacheisen S,” is a triumph of engineering and style in custom Moto Guzzi 1100 cafe racer form.
Built as a tribute to their very first project from 1996, this café racer reflects the culmination of 27 years of expertise from Stefan Bronold and his team.
A Custom Moto Guzzi 1100 Cafe Racer
Starting with a 2001 Moto Guzzi California 1100, little of the original bike remains. The frame hails from a Le Mans III, and the engine—a mid-2000s V11 unit—has been transformed with hotter cams and a Keihin FCR carb to deliver over 100 horsepower.
Highlights include a stainless underseat exhaust that weaves through the swingarm, upside-down forks, spoke wheels with a 180-section rear tire, Brembo four-piston brakes, and a sleek alloy tail section with an Alcantara saddle.
Radical Speedshop’s goal was clear: to create a café racer with vintage aesthetics but modern performance. “It has the style of a café racer but the suspension and engine make it perform like a new bike,” says Stefan. Their proudest achievement?
That underseat exhaust was a feat of craftsmanship that took over two weeks to perfect. The result is a Guzzi that’s as exhilarating as it is stunning.
