Sylwester Mateusiak of Poland’s Eastern Spirit has taken his renowned craftsmanship to a new level with this Art Deco-inspired café racer, a radical departure from the “ugly gosling” 2002 Moto Guzzi California 1100 that served as the donor.
Drawing aesthetic inspiration from the futuristic, industrial landscapes of the 1927 cult film Metropolis, the build features striking, hand-shaped aluminum bodywork that has been left unpainted to showcase its raw, sculptural quality.
This Custom Moto Guzzi California Cafe Racer Is Truly Special
The transformation reimagines the bulky Italian cruiser as a sleek, muscular machine with a minimalist silhouette, anchored by a custom-fabricated front fairing and a sleek fuel tank that flows seamlessly into a sharp, skeletal rear section.
Beyond its futurist aesthetic, Eastern Spirit heavily re-engineered the platform for genuine sport performance, shedding significant weight through a simplified wiring harness, a lithium-ion battery, and scratch-built aluminum hardware.

The original frame was rebuilt with a revised rear section and modified engine mounts to provide a sportier rake and more aggressive stance while maintaining the integrity of the shaft-drive alignment. The 1100cc V-twin received a comprehensive performance overhaul—including a modified crankshaft, ported heads, and custom velocity stacks—transforming the once-staid cruiser into a “lively toy” capable of exceeding 200 km/h.
The result is a high-speed work of art that feels as though it has raced out of a parallel universe where vintage craftsmanship and modern performance collide.
