Custom Ducati Multistrada cafe racer

When I think of custom Ducati motorcycles, I don’t think of the Multistrada, but that’s exactly what Tony Lloyd thought of. He built one of the coolest custom cafe racers I’ve seen in a long time using a Ducati Multistrada 1000.

A Ducati Multistrada Cafe Racer Like No Other

The bike started as a 2004 Multistrada 1000DS, which Tony acquired as a winter project due to electrical issues and a swollen plastic tank.

For this, his 10th Ducati build, Tony challenged himself to create a more radical and minimalist design. He custom-made nearly every part of the bike, including the rear subframe, exhaust, headlight, and license plate brackets, and a 4-cable throttle system for the flat-side carburetors he installed.

Tony is particularly proud of the custom-built underslung exhaust and the 4-cable throttle system he designed.

The bike is described as being “fun” to ride, with its light weight, Öhlins suspension, and Ducati trellis frame contributing to excellent handling, and potentially even outperforming a standard Multistrada.
