Every week, I do a news roundup of the best motorcycle news stories out there. These are the most important motorcycle news stories that I believe folks need to know about.
This week was a little tough. There were multiple stories that deserved to make the cut, but I narrowed it down to the top three.
This week Yamaha, Damon Motors, and Ducati made the cut for the roundup.
Yamaha Kills the R6
Yamaha’s R6 has been one of the most popular and important sportbikes in the market right now. With this in mind, it might seem crazy for the company to kill it off. However, that’s what they did.
It’s due to Euro 5 emissions and the fact that Yamaha doesn’t want to upgrade the current engine to meet the standards. I’d imagine the company has a new design in the works but it’s not ready for production yet, so here we are with no R6 for 2021.
Damon Motors Reveals Its HyperDrive Multi-Variant Powertrain
This is an interesting one. Damon has a special HyperDrive electric powertrain. It revealed two new bikes to showcase the powertrain.
The electric motorcycle company also showcased a new subscription option for interested riders. This will provide riders with an affordable way to get the motorcycle, and it also makes it easy to upgrade in the future.
Ducati Debuts the 2021 SuperSport 950 and the 2021 Panigale V4 SP
Ducati has a couple new bikes in the SpuperSport 950 and the Panigale V4 SP. These are some beautiful, hardcore sportbikes. The company also has some additional upgrades for the regular Panigale V4. All told, these new machines should spell success for Ducati in 2021.
