Verge Motorcycles has a fancy new electric motorcycle it released at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The Finnish manufacturer revealed the high-spec Verge TS Ultra. The reported specs are impressive, and the company wants to start US sales later this year.
Top Dog Verge TS Ultra Features Impressive Specs
Verge reports 885 pound-feet of torque and 201 hp from the motorcycle’s hubless, rim-mounted motor. This makes the bike good for a 0-60 mph time of just 2.5 seconds. Its claimed top speed is 124 mph.
The range is “up to 123 miles” per charge and the bike can be charged to 80 percent capacity in just 25 minutes. The battery is a 20.2-kilowatt-hour unit.
How does this compare to the regular Verge TS Pro, the company’s next closest option in terms of performance? Well, the TS Pro makes 137 hp and 737 pound-feet of torque. The top speed is the same but the 0-60 mph time is a full second slower than the TS Ultra. Also, the range is only 217 miles. With all this in mind, the TS Ultra is notably more impressive.
Verge set the price for the Ultra accordingly. It has a price tag of $44,900, which is pretty high in my mind. I’d expect the company to sell far fewer of them, but then they probably expect the high-seller to be the base Verge TS, which starts at $26,900. That price tag is more in-line with the competition.
This is an interesting electric motorcycle from an interesting company. The specs are impressive, and I’ll be even more impressed if Verge can deliver these bikes on their intended schedule and the bikes provide the performance outlined here.
