But after years of shifting deadlines, factory relocations, and high-profile executive departures, the dream seems stuck in neutral. If you’ve placed a deposit on a Damon HyperSport or HyperFighter, the odds of ever seeing your bike roll into your garage are getting slimmer by the day.

Damon Motorcycles Is In Trouble And That’s a Darn Shame

The company’s trajectory reads like a Silicon Valley cautionary tale: grandiose claims, flashy investor pitches, and a CEO whose decisions, according to former employees, created more roadblocks than solutions. Damon’s manufacturing facility in Vancouver? Quietly abandoned. Production timelines? Kicked further down the road, now aiming for 2026.

Meanwhile, its stock price is circling the drain, and key personnel, including former CTO Derek Dorresteyn, have jumped ship, according to Jonathon Klein’s reporting at RideApart.

Damon did manage to produce a working prototype, but when journalist Tim Stevens got a rare chance to ride it, many of the bike’s hyped-up features—including its adaptive ergonomics and safety systems—were nowhere to be found. The first production models, should they ever materialize, won’t even include those promised innovations.

At this point, Damon’s saga isn’t about delivering motorcycles—it’s about surviving. And with each passing month, it’s becoming harder to believe that this electric pipe dream will ever make it to the open road.

What sucks most about this is that the technology is there. It could exist. I’ve chatted with Jay Giraud and Dominique Kwong the company’s co-founders. It just seems like there have been so many hurdles to get these bikes to market.

At this point, anything is possible. Damon could still pull it out and dramatically transform the motorcycle industry as we know it, but it’s not looking good. It would appear that Damon Motorcycles is in trouble.
