Damon Motorcycles Reboots with Italian Partnership and a Broader Vision

Damon HyperFighter electric motorcycle

Say “Damon Motorcycles” in a bar full of riders and you’ll hear one of three things: “Who?”, “Still around?”, or the dreaded “Isn’t that Skully 2.0?” But who had Damon Motorcycles reboots to save itself on their 2025 Bingo card? The Canadian startup with dreams of AI-laced electric motorcycles is once again trying to prove it’s more than a press release and a slick render.

This time, it’s teaming up with Italy’s seasoned Engines Engineering—yes, the same folks who once turned a Benelli into a Harley tribute bike—for something called the HyperSport Race Program. Translation: another tech demonstrator.

But the real eyebrow-raiser isn’t the partnership—it’s Damon’s updated business plan, dubbed “Damon 2.0.” Instead of betting the farm on an electric superbike, they’re now spreading their chips across four ambiguous pillars: Data Intelligence, Personal Mobility, Licensing and Engineering Services, and something called “Special Projects,” which sounds suspiciously like vaporware.

What’s missing from all this? The word “motorcycle.” No, seriously. The company’s “About Damon” blurb skips it entirely, leaning instead into buzzwords like “AI-driven safety” and “accessible mobility solutions.” Toss in a McKinsey citation about micromobility, and the picture gets clearer: Damon’s not just pivoting—they’re practically pirouetting away from being a motorcycle company.

It’s a tale as old as electric startups: promise the moon, deliver a scooter. Maybe this partnership puts rubber on the road. But as of April 2025, Damon’s big innovation might just be how many ways it can talk about not making a motorcycle.
