Francisco Menezes of Portugal’s Holy Moly Motorcycles developed a complete, plug-and-play T7 retro kit, aiming to transform the modern ADV into a giant twin-cylinder enduro that honors its air-cooled ancestors, specifically the classic XT600Z Ténéré.

The Yamaha Ténéré 700 (T7) has been lauded for its lightweight design and capable CP2 parallel-twin engine, making it a favorite among adventure riding purists who prefer an old-school approach to off-road travel. However, many find the T7’s modern styling uninspiring and lacking in resemblance to the storied Ténéré bikes of the past.

Holy Moly Motorcycles produces the T7 retro kit in limited batches, often featuring liveries inspired by the iconic Paris-Dakar Rally bikes of the 1980s. The showcased example is the “Chesterfield T7,” one of only five units ever produced, styled to replicate the look of the legendary Chesterfield-sponsored “BYRD” YZE750 Super Ténéré race machine.

The kit is completely reversible and manages to convert the contemporary motorcycle into a vintage-looking machine while retaining all of the modern bike’s functionality, a design achievement that preserves the reliability and performance of the T7.

Owner Stewart chose the T7 for its balance of off-road capability and long-distance comfort, and was captivated by the Holy Moly kit’s retro look, specifically choosing the limited Chesterfield design to celebrate the 80s and early 90s Dakar aesthetic.

The final motorcycle delivers the best of both worlds: a machine that retains all the modern bike advantages—including the powerful, torque-rich CP2 twin—but is wrapped in the aggressive, nostalgic guise of a classic enduro, making it a unique and special ride.
