Nigel Weber of Germany’s NCC Bikes (Nigel’s Creative Customs) has collaborated with Belgian artist and track enthusiast Philippe Madou of Woefie-Art to create the “Anniversary Artbike,” a custom 1985 Suzuki GSX-R750 celebrating the 40th anniversary of the legendary “Slabside.”

The project honors the bike’s status as the “mother of all modern superbikes” by maintaining much of its original 1985 character while adding unique, hand-painted cartoon-style motifs that blend motorcycle culture with fine art.

While the engine remains stock—notable as the first 750cc sportbike to reach 100 horsepower—Nigel performed subtle performance upgrades inspired by the rare 1986 Limited Edition model.

These include a wider rear wheel, full floating Brembo brake discs, and custom-reproduced “Limited” heelguards and footrests. The solo tail section features a custom seat by Hendrik Badorek, and the overall aesthetic preserves the bike’s natural patina to tell the story of its age rather than presenting an “over-restored” look.

The centerpiece of the build is the hand-painted bodywork by Madou, whose energetic comic-style illustrations adorn the panels, including hand-drawn “R” and NCC logos.

The builders intended to create a “time machine” that captures the feel of 1980s endurance racing, retaining the analog clocks and the distinctive character of the original flat-slide carburetors. The one-of-a-kind machine is slated to be sold at auction later this year.
