Enter the Ducati Scrambler 10° Anniversario Rizoma Edition, a limited run of just 500 bikes, each draped in a sharp Stone White and Black livery with accents in an eye-catching Metal Rose. Motorcycles – So Many Choices
The world of motorcycles is a robust one. There’s a motorcycle designed for pretty much every use out there. The companies selling bikes are trying to appeal to every area of the market from the folks who love to cruise to the racers to the adventurers.
Then there’s the custom bike scene. Geniuses, craftsmen, artists take motorcycles and turn them into rolling pieces of art.
I try to cover a little bit of it all. From the new bikes rolling off the production lines at the various motorcycle manufacturers to the littlest of custom shops and individuals tinkering around in their sheds.
Types of Motorcycles
Here are the main types of motorcycles I typically write about on this site.
- Cafe Racer
- Scrambler
- Bobber
- Sportbikes
- Electric Motorcycles
- Minibikes
- Cruisers
- Adventure Bikes
- Moped
- Scooter
Note that this isn’t an exhaustive list, and the article linked above about the different types of motorcycles will explain the full picture.
Motorcycle Brands
The fun doesn’t stop with the various types of motorcycles. There are also tons of brands that sell each type of motorcycle. I’ve written an article on the different motorcycle brands out there, and that should give you a pretty clear idea of what you’ll find.
Motorcycle Engine Size
Motorcycle type and the different brands matter a ton, but I often find myself and other riders classifying motorcycles by their engine size or displacement.
This is typically how the industry categorizes motorcycles. You’ll see a 250cc class, a 600cc class, etc. To learn more, check out my article on the various engine sizes out there in the world of motorcycles.
Motorcycles and Prices
Lastly, I want to talk about the price of motorcycles. Everyone has to work in a budget, and you can buy a nice bike for very little money, but you can also spend a ton.
Price is a big deciding factor, and I would hope you take it into account. Here are my thoughts on motorcycles and their prices.

In The Place Beyond the Pines, the movie opens with a sharp breath of engine life, a fierce growl that pulls you in before a single word is spoken. And there, in the center of it all, Ryan Gosling’s character Luke Glanton rides through the screen on a motorcycle that’s as much a part of him as the tattoos on his skin. The bike, a Suzuki DR-Z400, is no mere prop—it’s a reflection of the rough, gritty undercurrent that pulses through the film.

In Paris, they’ve made life just a little harder for the everyday folks trying to get around. The mayor’s decision to limit the ring road speed to 31 mph might sound like a small tweak, but for riders, it’s a wrench in the gears. You see lane filtering in Paris (actually in all of France) is allowed under certain conditions, one being that speeds must be over 46 mph. Now? Forget about it.

Hunter S. Thompson’s Hell’s Angels: A Strange and Terrible Saga (the book that gives this blog its name) rides into town like a rumbling, oil-streaked Harley, kicking up dust and leaving you staring down the road after it, half-wondering what just happened. Thompson, the man who practically invented “gonzo journalism,” dives headlong into the chaos of California’s most notorious motorcycle club—the Hell’s Angels—like a daredevil at full throttle. What emerges is less of a documentary and more of a high-octane, first-person blitz through America’s shadowy underworld of beer, blood, and black leather.

It’s been said a thousand times: helmets save lives. You know it, I know it, and apparently, we still need to talk about it.
A new helmet study ran the numbers on how many motorcyclists could’ve been saved between 1976 and 2022 if every state had universal helmet laws. The answer? A staggering 22,058 riders. That’s right—22,000 people who might still be with us if helmets had been required. It’s not exactly groundbreaking, but it’s a hard truth we can’t ignore.

When you think of Tron: Legacy, your mind likely conjures images of neon-drenched landscapes and the sleek, glowing machines that zip through its digital world. The motorcycle in the movie is, of course, the Light Cycle, a two-wheeled icon that’s as much a part of the film’s aesthetic as the dazzling visuals themselves.
But beyond the digital realm, there’s another bike in the movie, one that grounds the story in the real world—a Ducati Sport 1000 Biposto. Together, these two motorcycles create a blend of cinematic fantasy and real-world cool that would make any motorhead sit up straight.
