So, you’re a new rider? If this is the case, then you need yourself a good pair of motorcycle boots for new riders.
Boots are one of the most important pieces of gear you can have on a motorcycle, and because of this, I thought it best to pull together a list of some excellent boots for new riders.
Let’s dive right into the boots so you can get to buying the pair that will work perfectly for you.
The boots on this list have to meet specific criteria. They have to provide ample protection and do so under $250. I didn’t spend more than that on my first pair of legit motorcycle boots, and I don’t think you should either.
Honestly, for a little over $100, you can find something that will work pretty well. Here’s what I’d recommend.
Alpinestars Sektor Vented Shoes
I’ll kick things off with the Alpinestars Sektor Vented Shoes. These are a perfectly fine pair of durable and lightweight motorcycle shoes that will provide you good protection without making any major style claims.
The shoes feature a microfiber construction, keeping things lightweight. There’s also plenty of ventilation throughout, a 3D dimensional ankle protection, speed lace system, an ankle strap, mesh for added breathability, some internal protection in the toe box and heel counter, and a replaceable EVA footbed with Lycra lining.
The shoes are CE Level 2 certified and will pair nicely with pretty much any modern motorcycle.

Alpinestars SMX-1 R Vented Boots
Another good pair of motorcycle boots for new riders is the Alpinestars SMX-1 R Vented Boots. These boots are perfect for the rider of a sporty machine, who wants something economical and durable.
The boots feature a microfiber upper construction, perforated panels for ventilation, heel counter support system and a TPR insert, TPR medial and lateral side protection, Alpinestars exclusive compound rubber sole, Achilles accordion flex zones, a strap closure, medial zippered closure, double density ankle protector, and a removable footped with EVA foam and Lycra.
There’s also an internal mesh liner to keep your feet comfy, and the boot is CE certified for Level 2 protection.

Icon Patrol 2 Boots
Icon has plenty of great boots but the Icon Patrol 2 Boots are some of the best the brand offers right now, and they’re super affordable.
The boots are level 3 waterproof and feature a Tectuff-coated leather upper, plastic heel reinforcement, and D3O ankle inserts. They look stylish and provide excellent protection overall.
The boots also get the BOA lacing system, a shifter interface, and are certified to standard EN 13634:2015.

TCX Rush WP Boots
Looking for a low-profile option? The TCX Rush WP Boots are a perfect choice that won’t break the bank.
The boots are so low profile they’re really more like high-top shoes. They feature a soft-touch microfiber upper combined with suede leather and micro injections and air intakes in the ankle area. They also get the Comfort Fit System as well as a polyurethane toe slider, suede shift pad, waterproof liner, toe and back counters, and laces with a Velcro ankle closure strap.
The anatomic and replaceable insoles are a nice touch as is the high wear-resistant sole.

TCX X-Blend WP Boots
Wrapping up our boots for beginners is the TCX X-Blend WP boots. These boots bring classic styling to the motorcycle boot design and are perfect for a wide variety of riders.
The boots feature full-grain vintage leather upper, waterproof lining, reinforced toe and heel counter, anatomically correct and replaceable footbed, and high wear-resistant rubber sole with a unique vintage look.
Overall these are the most attractive of the bunch listed here to me, but styling is subjective, so you may disagree. Honestly, these would work for any rider, but they’ll look best on a cruiser, cafe racer, scrambler, or some other retro bike.
