We all knew this was coming. The 2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 hasn’t surprised many people, but it’s been highly anticipated.
Husqvarna revealed a concept model two years ago at EICMA, and now the bike is officially ready.
If you want some fantastic styling in a bike based on the wonderfully competent KTM 890 Adventure, then this is the motorcycle for you.
2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 – Rally Raid Styling, KTM890 Adventure Base
By utilizing the platform pioneered by KTM, the Husqvarna Norden 901 features a chromium-molybdenum steel frame, steel trellis subframe, and a liquid-cooled 889cc DOHC parallel-twin engine, making 101 hp and 73.8 lb-ft of torque. You have a 117.7-pound dry weight and the bike can go 9,320 miles (15,000 km between service intervals).
The rally-inspired bodywork, which looks fantastic and puts the KTM bike to shame is what makes this a more interesting motorcycle. You get a big LED circle headlight, smaller fog lights, a rally-looking fairing, and a short windscreen.
The bike has been tuned to keep hot air from the radiator directed away while also making things aerodynamically efficient. The gas tank offers five gallons of capacity and a range of 248 miles. There’s a two-piece seat that is height adjustable (33.6 to 34.4 inches) and a heated option is available.
A power assist slipper clutch is standard as well as an Easy Shift quick shifter with six speeds. There are three ride modes (Street, Offroad, and Rain), and a fourth is optional (Explorer) that provides customizable settings.
You get Bosch 9.7 MP Cornering ABS, cruise control, smartphone connectivity, motor ship regulation, and a full-color five-inch TFT display. J.Juan brake components come standard with a four-piston setup at the front and a two-piston setup at the rear. Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires are fitted.
The bike has a 21-inch aluminum wire-spoke wheel at the front and an 18-inch at the rear. WP APEX adjustable suspension is standard (43mm inverted fork at the front and 8.5-inches of travel at the rear).
The bike has a price tag of $13,999. That’s about $900 more than the KTM 890 Adventure, but it’s a couple hundred less than the Adventure R KTM sells.
If I were buying one, I’d get the Norden so I didn’t hate what I saw every time I walked out to my bike. The KTM is gosh-darned ugly. But it’s certainly a good bike.
If you’re looking for a Norden 901, these bikes will hit dealers this month. If you want to find a used KTM 890 Adventure, check out eBay’s listings. You can also find some of Husqvarna’s other motorcycles on eBay.
