Yamaha Unveils New Y’s Gear Upgrades for 2025 XSR900

Yamaha XSR900 Y's Gear upgrades

Yamaha’s XSR900 is the kind of machine that turns heads and twists throttles—a modern performance monster wrapped in a skin of cool. But Yamaha knows their riders aren’t the kind to leave well enough alone.

Enter Y’s Gear, the Yamaha factory’s own in-house custom shop, answering the call of those who want their bike to look as fast as it rides.

Y’s Gear Upgrades for 2025 XSR900 Bring Retro Style and Factory Precision

For 2025, Y’s Gear has dropped two new upgrades: a front cowl and a seat cowl, giving the bike a cafe racer look. The front cowl gives a nod to the endurance racers of yesteryear, blending seamlessly with the XSR’s tank and lines.

The seat cowl, meanwhile, transforms the tail into a sleek, single-seat affair, even sporting racing-style number plate decals. Available in black, white, and a rare ivory color exclusive to Japan, these parts add a touch of factory-sanctioned flair.

Now, the kicker—these beauties are technically Japan-only, but where there’s a will (and an importer), there’s a way. Priced at around $475 for the front cowl and $295 for the seat cowl, they’re not exactly pocket change, but when Yamaha itself is giving you the green light to customize, that’s worth something.

In a world where manufacturers can be control freaks, Yamaha leans into the culture of personalization. They get that a bike isn’t just transportation—it’s a statement. And for those of us already devoted to the tuning-fork brand, this is just another reason to stay in love. Now, about that factory fairing kit…
