For the 2022 model year, you’ll find a new Yamaha MT-10 in the company’s lineup. Recently, Cycle World had a chance to check out what this bike is all about.
The machine features a new engine, new electronics, chassis updates, and new styling. It’s basically a brand new bike.
Check out what Cycle World’s Blake Conner thinks about this bike in the video above. And keep reading for some specs and my own thoughts.
Yamaha MT-10 New and Improved
There’s a lot to love about this new MT-10 from Yamaha. The bike takes things to a whole new level. As Blake says, it’s just a fantastic bike. The specs on it are right where they should be and the styling, while weird, will totally appeal to MT riders.
The Yamaha MT-10 features a 988cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline four-cylinder engine with 16 valves. It is fuel injected and that engine mates to a six-speed transmission with up-down quick shifting. The front suspension is a 43mm KYB inverted fork that’s fully adjustable, and the rear suspension is a KYB piggyback shock that’s also fully adjustable. Brakes are radial-mount four-piston calipers up front with Brembo master cylinders (with ABS) up front and a twin-piston caliper ABS setup in the rear.
I kind of hate the transformer-like styling of this bike, but I will say it looks mean and aggressive. The bright colors are also something I wouldn’t typically go for, but they will appeal to a lot of Yamaha customers.
Overall, I agree with Blake’s assessment of this bike. It’s a very impressive package for the starting price of $13,999. It offers an enticing package for real-world riding.
