A scrambler based on the Honda Rebel has been in the works for some time, Honda revealed the CL500 not long ago, and now the CL300 takes a bow. The company launched the little bike in China, which makes sense for the smaller-displacement machine.
Honda CL300 – Available Elsewhere
Now that Honda has revealed the CL300 in China, according to Cycle World, the question is will the company sell it in other markets.
It would seem that Honda will. According to Motorcycle Sports, a smaller displacement version is planned for the Japanese market (a 250cc) and in Thailand, a CL300 is planned.
The publication notes that the company has applied for naming rights for the CL500 in Australia and New Zealand. It is likely that the CL300 will follow. From there I expect the little scrambler to continue to make its way to other markets as long as it sells well.
It’s unclear exactly when the CL300 will come to the U.S. but it only makes sense to bring it if honda sells the CL500 here, which it most certainly will. Scrambler motorcycles are hot right now, and Honda wants a piece of that action.
