Well, buckle up and prepare to shift into reverse – literally. Matt Bishop and Reece Gilkes, better known as The Sidecar Guys, are at it again with another wild idea to break a Guinness World Record. These three-wheeled daredevils have already circled the globe via scooter and sidecar, but now they’ve set their sights on something even crazier: driving the longest distance in reverse on a motorcycle with a sidecar.
The Sidecar Guys Are Going Backwards
On October 26, at Tranwell Airfield near Newcastle, they’ll hop into a Ural Gear Up and attempt to drive backward for 12 straight hours, aiming to beat the current record of 106 miles.
And it won’t just be about watching them break the record – spectators can sip drinks, take in the action, and even try their hand at sidecar riding themselves. Once the record’s in the bag, there’s a party waiting at their HQ, because what’s a record-breaking day without a proper celebration?
Bishop and Gilkes have been sharing the joy of three-wheeled life since their globe-trotting adventure, offering tours, events, and even their own Armchair Adventure Festival. This latest stunt is part of their ongoing mission to fund a new café and hub for adventure travelers in the northeast.
Tickets range from a fiver to £45 for the full rider experience, and all proceeds go to their crowdfunder. Curious? You can find all the details at sidecarexperience.co.uk.
