The Honda GB500 Is Coming to US

Honda’s GB badge, a nod to classic motorcycling nostalgia, is making a comeback. First revived in Europe with the 2025 GB350S—a straightforward, air-cooled single aimed at Royal Enfield’s territory—it seems the GB500 is set to return stateside.

Honda filed trademark paperwork in US and New Zealand, signaling that this bike will come to both of those markets. This killer retro roadster could hit a highway near you soon.

Are You Excited for the Honda GB500?

For those of us who remember, the GB500TT briefly graced U.S. roads in 1989 and 1990, a retro cafe racer before retro was cool. Powered by a four-valve single and wrapped in a steel-tube frame with wire-spoked wheels, it was a charming but underappreciated machine in its day.

The GB350S carries that torch in Europe with a minimalist approach: a two-valve, 20.8-hp single tucked into a traditional frame. It’s a lightweight contender in the growing sub-400cc market overseas but not quite robust enough for American tastes. Enter the GB500 revival.

Honda GB350

I’m guessing it will use the engine from the Honda SCL500 scrambler (the Rebel’s engine) and some of the rest of that platform. With its 471cc twin and twin-shock chassis, it’s a perfect candidate.

However, Honda could just decide to scale up the GB350 engine, which could be the best choice from an aesthetic standpoint. Whatever Honda decides, the GB500 promises to rekindle the spirit of its predecessor—this time, hopefully finding its moment in the sun.
