The Honda ATC is a three-wheeler designed to be tough as nails and ready for pretty much anything.
It’s an impressive machine in many respects, but the three-wheeled design of the bike makes it a bit difficult to ride.
In the video above FortNine does a detailed look at the three-wheeler, including why it was banned in the U.S.
Makes You Want a Honda ATC Doesn’t It?
The irony here is that the three-wheeler wasn’t the real issue here, according to the channel.
Yes, the number of deaths that happened on three-wheelers was high, and a large portion of those were of kids, but once the three-wheeler disappeared, deaths stayed rather high. They just were attributed to quads instead of three-wheelers.
Regardless, the Honda ATC and the other three-wheeled machines that came out about the same time are interesting machines, and this is a good look at what made them popular and what makes them dangerous.
If you’ll excuse me, I’ll be searching the local classifieds for ones of these machines now.
