The long-rumored Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 has finally emerged from the shadows, and it’s shaping up to be a blend of rugged adventurer and street-friendly tourer.
Spied during testing in southern Europe, this near-production-ready bike is equipped with spoked wheels, a large bash plate, and a half-fairing with a generous windshield, signaling its dual-purpose intent.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 Spotted and It Looks Nearly Ready
It’s off-road ready, but with its 19”/17” wheel setup and retro styling, it leans more toward comfortable adventure touring than the hardcore off-road exploits of its smaller Himalayan 450 sibling.
The Himalayan 650 shares the proven 648cc parallel twin, producing 47 horsepower and is likely tuned for the same torque-rich delivery as the Bear 650. Its stepped seat improves accessibility while mounting points hint at luggage-ready capabilities. The bike also boasts upside-down front forks—possibly adjustable—paired with dual front disc brakes, a Royal Enfield first, featuring “Bybre” calipers from Brembo’s Indian division.
Other notable updates include a high-mounted muffler for off-road practicality, a relocated oil cooler for better airflow, and a rectangular TFT instrument cluster angled for rider convenience. Though the exact tank capacity remains uncertain, it’s expected to deliver a respectable 200-mile range.
While it’s missed its rumored 2024 release, the Himalayan 650 looks ready to conquer miles on-road and trails at a relaxed pace. Adventure awaits—just a little longer.
