Indian and Harley-Davidson are in the News This Week
Every weekday, I write motorcycle news at Web Bike World. At the end of the week, I like to look over the news stories I covered and do a quick roundup here on Wind Burned Eyes.
This week Harley-Davidson had some big stories in the news. Indian also released a new bike. While there were plenty of other good stories out there, these ones stand out.
Harley-Davidson’s CEO Steps Down
Matt Levatich has been the CEO for over two decades, and they’ve arguably been some of the worst decades for the company. I’m honestly surprised it took HD to end Levatich’s time as CEO. The company has squandered its brand recognition for years and focused solely on one area of the market that’s declining. Levatich leaving is a good thing. Well, only if HD replaces him with someone ready for a future that’s different for the company.
Harley-Davidson’s New Electric Logos
Harley has some new fancy logos for its electric bikes that will be coming in the future. There are two of them, and it’s unclear how the company plans to use both of them, but it is cool to see the electric side of things for HD progress.
Indian’s New Scout Bobber Sixty
So, while Harley is struggling, Indian is thriving. The motorcycle company just put out a new Scout Bobber Sixty. It is more affordable and should bring even more riders to the brand. Indian is doing all the right things, and Harley could learn a lesson here—people like affordable bikes.
