On Fridays, I like to take a look over the past week’s news articles and do a motorcycle news roundup here on Wind Burned Eyes.
This week, there are some interesting stories out there. Topics include Briggs & Stratton, Yamaha, and how a simple scooter helped a kid learn and find meaning.
Without further ado, let’s dive into the best stories of the week.
Briggs & Stratton Files for Bankruptcy
This one is surprising to me, but once you look at the details it makes sense. Basically, the company owed over $1 billion. It’s now being bought and sold off by a private equity firm. Oh, and the CEO of the failed company took home $1.2 million.
Kid Learns to Love to Learn Fixing a Scooter
The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent quarantine has been tough on a lot of people, but kids especially. The New York Times published an article about a kid who found his love of learning through motorcycle maintenance. He fixed up a beater scooter and learned a ton along the way. It’s a great story.
Yamaha Is Working on a Small-Displacement Four-Cylinder Motorcycle
Kawasaki has already built one, so now Yamaha will, or at least, that’s the rumor. It sounds a bit more than just a rumor though. There’s also some speculation that Honda could do the same, but I bet Yamaha will have its bike out fairly soon, whereas Honda will hold off.
