When I first saw The Matrix Reloaded has some fantastic vehicles in it, but the motorcycle Trinity rides in the film is probably the best of the bunch. The bike is a killer Ducati sportbike, and it’s perfect for one of the most epic chase scenes of all time.
Trinity Rides a Ducati 996 in The Matrix Reloaded
If you can’t tell from the image and videos here, the bike she’s riding is a Ducati 996. The motorcycle appears two different times in the film. Once during a shootout at the beginning of the movie, and then during an amazing chase scene on the freeway.
When the bike shows up the second time, Trinity jumps it off the second level of a vehicle transportation truck and onto the freeway. From there, it’s a mad scramble around the highway until she escapes. While the actors and story help keeps tension high, the true star of this scene to me has always been the motorcycle, a black Ducati 996.
How Much Is a Ducati 996?
The Ducati 996 was made from 1999 to 2002. As such, if you’re buying one, you’re buying a used motorcycle. These bikes offer a superb machine for what you’ll pay.
On various motorcycle sales sites across the internet, you’ll see these bikes go anywhere from about $7,000 to over $10,000 depending on the model and how many miles it has on it and how well it has been maintained over the years.

Ducati Matrix Reloaded Edition Bikes
Shortly after the film debuted, Ducati released a Matrix Reloaded Edition of its popular 998. By the time the film had come out, Ducati had moved on to the 998 from the 996.
The special edition motorcycles, therefore, needed to be the latest model and not the 996 seen in the film. I can’t find what happened to the 996 motorcycles that appeared in the film, unfortunately. So, if you want a Matrix Reloaded bike, you’d better find a 998 special edition. They do come up for sale from time to time.
