One of my favorite small adventure bikes is getting some new kit. The KTM 390 Adventure will receive some updates.
The bike just came out two years ago, but now it’s getting a quick update to keep it near the top of the small adventure bike heap.
Let’s take a closer look at what the updates are.
The KTM 390 Adventure Gets Improved Electronics
The big news here is that the KTM 390 Adventure gets an updated suite of electronic rider aids. For 2022, the bike has a new off-road mode for traction control and a street setting that provides more room for wheelspin. Additionally, Bosch 9.1MP two-channel ABS with cornering is included.
Otherwise, the motorcycle hasn’t really changed. There’s a 373cc single-cylinder DOHC water-cooled engine that makes 43 hp and 27 lb-ft of torque. That engine has been tweaked fairly recently to get it to meet Euro 5 emissions. You get a 6-speed transmission.
You still get a 19-inch wheel at the front and a 17-inch wheel at the rear. The wheels are cast alloy. Those wheels get Continental TKC 70 tires. For suspension, the bike gets WP Apex 43mm upside-down fork and a WP Apex shock with 6.9 inches of travel.
There’s still a 5-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity and a 3.8-gallon fuel tank. Bodywork is the same, too, but there’s a fancy new blue and orange color combo inspired by KTM’s Dakar bikes.
On KTM’s website, I’m not seeing a price listed, and some other reports out there list it as TBD. I’d expect it to come up a little bit due to the new tech, but it should still be very reasonable.
