The Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 ST is the latest addition to its lineup, and it takes the spirit of the Pan America Special and leans into a more road-focused persona.
If the Pan America Special was Harley’s nod to adventure riding, the ST feels like a refined bow to sport touring, shedding some of the rugged off-road bravado in favor of nimble street performance. At $19,999, it’s priced alongside its adventurous sibling but distinguishes itself in significant ways.
The Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 ST Is Perhaps HD’s Most Interesting Bike
The heart of the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 ST is the same 1250cc Revolution Max engine, punching out 149 horsepower at 8,750 rpm and 91 lb-ft of torque. While these numbers fall slightly below the Special’s output, Harley claims the tweak is intentional, owing to a lighter exhaust system that improves sound quality. Mated to the six-speed transmission is a Screamin’ Eagle bidirectional quickshifter, a standout feature for those seeking seamless gear transitions.
The ST swaps the Special’s 19-inch front wheel for a pair of 17-inch cast wheels clad in Michelin Scorcher Sport tires—the same rubber used on the LiveWire One. With its shorter suspension travel (6.75 inches) and lower seat height (as low as 31.7 inches with Adaptive Ride Height), the ST promises sharper steering and a more grounded on-road feel. Adaptive Ride Height is a game-changer for shorter riders, automatically lowering the bike at stops and restoring optimal height at speed.
Visually, the ST trims the fat, ditching lower fairings, crash bars, and handguards for a sleeker profile. A shorter windscreen and a curb weight of 542 pounds (27 pounds lighter than the Special) add to its athletic demeanor. Inside, the bike offers a 6.8-inch color TFT touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation via Harley-Davidson’s app, ensuring tech-savvy riders stay connected on the go.
Suspension duties fall to Showa’s 47mm Balance Free Fork and Shock, with electronic preload adjustment for North American models. Brembo’s radial-mounted dual front calipers and single rear caliper anchor the bike’s braking system, complemented by lean-sensitive ABS, traction control, and linked braking.
With three ride modes (Road, Sport, and Rain), two custom modes, and safety features like front wheel lift mitigation and drag torque slip control, the Pan America 1250 ST blends Harley’s signature power with modern sophistication. Available in Billiard Gray, Vivid Black, and Brilliant Red, the 2025 Pan America 1250 ST is Harley-Davidson’s bold step into adventure-sport territory.
