Ducati doesn’t have a typical electric motorcycle just yet, but the company has committed to becoming the sole supplier for the all-electric MotoE World Cup starting in 2023.
The company’s agreement will put Ducati in the limelight with MotoE, which runs alongside MotoGP, from 2023 to 2026.
Previously, Energica was the company that filled this role, but it announced its partnership was coming to an end.
Ducati and MotoE – The Future
Ducati will have a lot of work to do, but this commitment to electric motorcycle racing should fast-track the company’s development of electrified technology.
There was a sketch released (shown at the top of this post), but beyond that, very little is known at this point about what the bike will be like or what the future holds for Ducati and MotoE.
Volkswagen Group is Ducati’s parent company and has recently made similar commitments to an electrified business plan, so I’m sure Ducati was pushed towards this by VW.
I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. It’s moves like this that will move electric motorcycles forward, and it’s exciting to see Ducati making big moves here.
More information will come at later dates. When it does, I’ll let you know what Ducati has planned and how this is all going to shape up.
