The New Confederate Motorcycles Hellcat and Hellcat Speedster

Confederate Motorcycles has some new bikes: the Confederate Motorcycles Hellcat and Hellcat Speedster.

I reported on the fact that the new Hellcat may be coming and then included the announcement in one of my news roundups, but I thought I’d take a closer look at the new Confederate Motorcycles Hellcat and Hellcat Speedster.

Confederate Motorcycles is alive and well. Once thought forgotten by many when the founders of the company started Curtiss Motorcycles, the Confederate brand continues to live on and be an important force in the motorcycle industry.

The new Hellcat is based on the Harley-Davidson FXDR chassis. This gives Confederate a basis to work on that’s approved by the government for sale. Ernest Lee, the company’s CEO, told me that getting approval for ABS and some of the other high-end electronics can be difficult, and this. move to the Harley frame and chassis, helps him put out the new bike.

The engine in the new Hellcat is the Screaming Eagle 117 cubic-inch Milwaukee Eight. This is a departure from the S&S engines that are on other Confederate motorcycles, but because the new bike utilizes the FXDR chassis, it only makes sense to go with this.

Visually, the new Hellcat looks similar to the X132 Hellcat Speedster that was previously sold. the company made only 65 of those, and so if you want a similar-looking machine, then this is a good way to get one. The price is $45,000 starting, which is actually less by $20,000 than the old X132 Hellcat Speedster. All told, there’s a lot to love here.

The new Hellcat has also spawned a new Hellcat Speedster. The Speedster version of the bike also features the Harley-Davidson FXDR frame and the Screaming Eagle 117 cubic inch Milwaukee Eight engine.

Other than that, though, the bikes look very different, with the Speedster getting a unique double wishbone front suspension system and basically every other part of it new or different from the standard Hellcat. This is a machine that stands out as much as the company’s other bikes.

The motorcycle’s unique style doesn’t come cheap. It costs $75,000. That is a notable rise from the standard Hellcat, but it’s a truly different bike.

It’s worth noting that the company has a new Wraith, too. It’s priced at $155,000 and comes with a fully Confederate frame, S&S 132 cubic-inch engine and more.

Check out the full Confederate lineup on the company’s website.
