CEO of Comoto Says All Its Brands Will Use the Same Distribution Channels and Warehouses

Comoto to Streamline Revzilla, CycleGear, and J&P Cycles Operations

Recently, it came out that Comoto Holdings, the parent company to Revzilla and CycleGear, bought J&P Cycles. I had a chance to chat with the motorcycle gear company’s CEO Ken Murphy, and he said there are some distribution opportunities.

In my interview, Murphy said that Comoto will be working on the back end to get all three brands using the same distribution channels and warehouses.

“J&P, today, all of their inventory is centrally located at a distribution center in Louisville, Kentucky,” Murphy said. “We have distribution centers on the East Coast, West Coast, and ironically in Kentucky as well, and so we’ll begin getting J&P product in all of our distribution centers to get products to customers sooner.

This might not seem like a huge thing for consumers, but it could make a big difference when it comes to convenience.

Murphy went on to say that the businesses will exist more or less in their own silos. He doesn’t want to merge J&P Cycles with Revzilla or CycleGear or try to create some kind of single large company.

He did say there’s some room for crossovers between brands but was hesitant to say the companies would be cross-promoting.

“They’ll primarily exist in their own silos,” he said. “However, if there are things that we can offer customers—that’s really the lens we have to look through—some kind of value-added service to the customer then, yes, we’ll be open to that, but we want to do that in a very selective way.”

This move to keep the brands separate from each other makes sense. Revzilla, CycleGear, and J&P Cycles all have their own niches in the industry, and it would make sense for Comoto to just let them keep doing what’s working while looking for ways to help streamline and improve business operations.

This will likely be good for the consumer in the end. It should equal the same, if not more, options for gear and accessories with even better customer service and shorter delivery times. It will be interesting to see how things progress.
