When BMW wanted their R12 transformed into a custom cruiser that embodied Japan’s bold custom scene, they turned to the legendary MOONEYES (among other amazing builders), who know a thing or two about speed and style.
The vision? Channeling the ‘sense of speed’ from MOONEYES’ classic racers, and nothing says “speed” like their iconic moon disc wheel covers. But those covers required a precise fit—new rims and custom curvature to clear the brakes.

From there, the transformation roared ahead. The body, entirely hand-crafted from brushed aluminum, exudes a raw, streamlined ferocity. The bike looks poised to shatter speed records even when motionless, with a front cowl embracing its slick tire like a wind-slicing blade.
The fuel tank and seat meld seamlessly, creating an impossibly long silhouette, while lowered foot controls and clip-ons position the rider stretched flat like a sprinter poised for flight.
With graphics added and the whole creation slammed low, this custom R12 captures MOONEYES’ ethos—a gleaming, low-slung land speed machine, ready to make hearts race. A stunning tribute to speed and craftsmanship, it’s both a nod to history and a leap into the future.
