This 1952 Vincent Black Shadow, a machine revered in motorcycling lore, has been revived to its former glory. It is for sale at Bring a Trailer. Acquired in 2008 and left in disrepair by its late owner in 2023, this Series C marvel underwent extensive recommissioning at Madhouse Motors in Boston.
The overhaul brought modern reliability to classic design, including a Francois Grosset electric starter, Tri-Spark digital ignition, and a rebuilt wet clutch. Amal pre-Monobloc carburetors were restored, brakes de-glazed, and the wiring harness replaced, ensuring peak performance.
This Is Your Chance to Own a 1952 Vincent Black Shadow
Finished in black with gold pinstripes, its 998cc OHV V-twin roars through a two-into-one exhaust with a Burgess-style muffler. Polished aluminum fenders, Smiths Chronometric gauges, and an upper frame doubling as an oil tank underscore its engineering brilliance.
Avon Speedmaster tires and a Girdraulic fork complement its quad drum brakes, though both tires and brakes need attention.
