Cake is known for its simple but highly useful electric motorcycles and mopeds, and at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) the company revealed the Cake Åik. The unique utility bike is a great little e-bike from the Swedish company.
Cake Åik Platform Offers Versatility
The name Åik means ‘big and heavy load,’ according to RideApart. This is the company’s first real e-bike. Its other bikes have all been either electric motorcycles or e-mopeds.
The Åik features an electric motor that makes 73.75 pound-feet of torque. You can purchase the bike with a single battery or up to 750-watt-hour batteries linked together, which give the bike a claimed 74.5 miles of range.
The frame is made of forged 6061 aluminum—the same as with other Cake models.
The most exciting part of the bike is how versatile it is. It can be fitted with various luggage racks and the batteries can be used to power other things like power tools or a refrigerated cargo box (perfect for delivery riders).
You can pre-order the Åik right now. When the bike goes on sale, it will cost $6,470—in the US. Check it out on Cake’s website.
