BMW’s at it again, playing its favorite game of “How Many Bikes Can We Build from One Engine?” The BMW R 1300 GS got things rolling, but we all knew it wouldn’t be long before that 1,300cc Boxer found its way into a few siblings.
Thanks to some fresh EPA paperwork, we now have proof: the R 1300 R, R 1300 RS, and R 1300 RT are on their way for 2026. That’s a naked roadster, a faired sport-tourer, and a full-dress tourer, all borrowing from the GS’s playbook—whether they’ll get the same 145-horsepower punch remains to be seen.

BMW’s also throwing in the option of clutchless shifting with its Automated Shift Assistant, a fancy way of saying, “We’ll shift for you.”
And with the new sheet metal frame, BMW introduced on the GS, expect a modular design that lets the engineers mix and match parts like a kid with a fresh Lego set.

Meanwhile, for those who still crave the old-school air/oil-cooled Boxer, BMW’s got you covered with the upcoming R 12 G/S. Think of it as a modern nod to the original R 80 G/S, likely with longer suspension travel and a bigger front wheel to tackle the dirt.
No official reveal dates yet, but given how these things go, expect BMW to make some noise sooner rather than later.
