Bajaj, a titan in the global two- and three-wheeler market, continues to flex its dominance, thanks largely to a booming domestic performance. In 2024, the company clocked an impressive 3.1 million registrations, marking a 10.6% increase, fueled primarily by a surging Indian market (+13.4%).

Yet, despite this growth, Bajaj slips to sixth in global rankings, overtaken by TVS Motor, which led the pack in terms of YoY growth.

Bajaj 2024 Global Sales Numbers Show It Wins in India

Domestically, Bajaj reigns supreme, accounting for a staggering 96% of its sales. Exports, while significant in regions like Africa, South America, and South Asia, reveal mixed fortunes.

South America, especially Colombia, showed promise with soaring demand, while Africa remains a stronghold, positioning Bajaj as an alternative to Chinese competitors. Yet, struggles in Bangladesh (-27%), Argentina (-15.6%), and the Philippines (-10.2%) hint at the challenges of sustaining global growth.

The company’s roots run deep. Founded in 1944 and headquartered in Pune, Bajaj Auto revolutionized Indian mobility by partnering with Piaggio to produce the iconic Vespa 150. Over decades, it scaled operations, expanded into motorcycles, and inked pivotal partnerships—first with Kawasaki in 1984 and later with Triumph in 2017, cementing its place in the global motorcycle arena.

Today, Bajaj leads the three-wheeler segment and boasts a reputation for low-cost manufacturing and robust R&D. While its domestic performance remains its backbone, the company is navigating the complexities of global markets. Bajaj’s legacy is clear, but its ability to innovate and expand beyond Indian borders will define its future. For now, it’s a tale of domestic triumph tempered by international trials—classic Bajaj, riding the road ahead with grit and ambition.
