Plenty of adventure riders are doing the comparison between the Aprilia Tuareg 660 vs Yamaha Tenere 700.
But most of them will just be comparing these bikes on paper. Motorcycle.com on the other hand had a chance to get in the saddle of these adventure machines and do the head-to-head versus thing right.
In the video above you’ll see what came out of that matchup. While these two bikes are similar on paper, it’s all about how the components come together.
Aprilia Tuareg 660
The good news about the Aprilia Tuareg 660 is that it’s an extremely rfined machine with excellent fit and finish. The bike is genuinely an impressive feat of engineering and manufacturing. It also offers fantastic wind protection, which can make a big difference on the open road. It’s also technologically advanced with plenty of electronics.
The downsides, however, are that it has not a ton of power on the low end, the front brake could be stronger, and the bike gives off a fair amount of heat when riding.

Yamaha Tenere 700
The Yamaha Tenere 800 is a beast of an ADV bike. It offers significant low-end power as its chief advantage. Then you have the robust Yamaha dealer network backing up the machine. Finally, the tank shape makes seeing your front wheel easy, an off-road adventuring boon.
On the downsides, there’s not a ton, but it does require more effort overall to ride smoothly and easily. It’s also a bit of a pig at times in terms of girth and size. The seat could be much more comfortable, which truly is not great on the open road.
