FIM SuperEnduro World Championships Adds Electric Bikes
In a surprising move, the FIM, along with the new series promoter Sport Up Agency, has collaborated with electric bike manufacturers to level the playing field. FIM President Jorge Viegas is now calling it a “natural evolution,” placing electric bikes alongside their gas-guzzling counterparts. They’ve done their homework too, setting new safety standards and track regulations to ensure a fair fight. Viegas reassures us that it’s all above board and will make for an “interesting and thrilling season.”
So here we are, standing at the crossroads of electric and combustion technology, set to race head-to-head in Poland come December. It’s a bold new era, with electric bikes proving they can more than hold their own, as we’ve seen in trials.
