As some people know, I’m a huge fan of minibikes. I’m talking about the ones that are not street legal and have a pull-start starter. However, those aren’t the only small motorcycles I like. I’m also a huge fan of mini motorcycles like the Honda Grom. And because of this, I wanted to put together a list of the best small motorcycles.
These little motorcycles are wicked fun, small, and affordable. They’re fantastic for commuting and for having a hell of a lot of fun on the weekends. All of the things that I love in a bike. These small motorcycles aren’t great for long rides and touring, but they’re great for pretty much everything else.
One note here, you’ll not find the Honda Grom on this list. It’s a great bike, but it’s not my favorite. I think there are several other bikes out there worth buying over the Grom.
1. Kawasaki Z125 Pro
The Kawasaki Z125 Pro is a small motorcycle that is extremely similar to the Honda Grom. Kawasaki’s essentially copied the Grom but the company made the bike even better. The bike features a fuel-injected 125cc single-cylinder. That engine is mated to a four-speed transmission. The Z125 Pro is quick, fun, and ready for whatever you have planned.

2. Honda Monkey
The Honda Monkey is a seriously great option from team Red. The bike takes what the Grom has at its most basic level and from there turns things retro. The Monkey is a classic take on the mini or small motorcycle. It’s fun, cute, and goofy in all the right ways. The motorcycle features a fuel-injected 125cc single-cylinder. The engine is mated to a four-speed transmission. If you want to go back in time in style, this is it.

3. Kymco Spade 150i
The Kymco Spade 150i is another good retro-styled option. The motorcycle is far different than the other best small motorcycles here. It’s not a clone of the Grom, but it does play in that space. The Spade 150i features a 149cc single-cylinder with fuel injection. The bike’s engine is mated to a five-speed transmission, which is one of the few bikes of this size that has five cogs in the gearbox.

The Honda Navi looks like a small motorcycle and in some way acts a lot like a small motorcycle, but it has a powertrain a lot like a scooter. The bike has a CVT transmission, meaning it’s fully automatic. The engine on it is a simple 109cc air-cooled single-cylinder. It’s one of the best little bikes out there for zooming around the city and commuting, and it deserves some consideration if you’re looking for the best small motorcycle. Also, its price is very low.

5. CSC City Slicker
The CSC City Slicker is the lone electric option in the small motorcycle category. The bike is affordable, fun, and powerful for what it is. The bike features a 72Volt 26AH Lithium-Ion battery that can be recharged in six to eight hours. The range is between 37 and 62 miles depending on how you ride. The electric motorcycle features an electric motor that puts out 3.2KW Peak Power and 1.5KW Rated Power. The top speed is 46.6 mph.

Other Small Motorcycle Options
There are other small motorcycles out there. The Grom is one of them, but there are others like the Kymco K-Pipe, Honda Super Cub, and various 125cc and 100cc motorcycles out there.
Those other options aren’t quite as good as the ones I’ve identified as the best small motorcycles out there. They will be reliable and fun machines that you can count on for your commute or a fun weekend ride.
