I’m not going to lie and say they’re just as good at protecting your feet as some sturdy and well-made motorcycle boots. Generally, motorcycle boots will beat shoes when it comes to protection, but motorcycle shoes still offer good protection and can be so much more convenient and comfortable.

Why You Might Want Motorcycle Shoes
Motorcycle boots are fantastic. They provide tons of protection and they’re often comfortable on the bike, but sometimes they’re not comfortable off the bike and if you’re riding to somewhere where you plan to do a lot of walking, you might want something that’s comfortable on and off the bike.
Also, motorcycle boots are often somewhat cumbersome. They can be harder to get on and off, and generally overall people are simply more apt to put on a pair of shoes than boots. Then there’s the seasonality part of the equation. In the middle of summer, boots are often far too hot. A pair of shoes is usually better.
You can certainly spend a lot of money on motorcycle shoes. Some cost several hundred dollars, but you certainly don’t have to spend a lot. You can get a good pair of motorcycle shoes for under $100. The Street & Steel Kickstarter Riding Shoes are some of the best motorcycle shoes out there for the price. First off, they look fantastic, but they also offer plenty of great features.
The shoes feature a suede upper construction, mesh liner, and padding at the ankles. The tow cap is reinforced and so is the sole of the shoe. Additionally, there are vent grommets and a lace-keeper for the laces.

The Speed and Strength United By Speed Shoes look like a regular pair of leather sneakers, but they offer a whole heck of a lot more. If you’re looking for a good pair of on and off-bike sneakers, these are it.
The shoes feature a synthetic leather upper with perforated panels for airflow, a micro-mesh liner inside, reinforcements in the ankle, heel, and toe of the shoes, an anti-slip rubber sole, and reinforcements on the toe for the shifter. The Bilt Dexter motorcycle shoes are another great option. Looking like some regular street shoes that are a little more pedestrian, these offer good style, comfort, and protection at a really reasonable price. Seriously, you’re probably not going to find more affordable motorcycle shoes.
