The brand that made Milwaukee famous is shaking up its iconic cruiser lineup. The 2025 Harley-Davidson Softail lineup has a six-model range—Low Rider S, Low Rider ST, Breakout, Fat Boy, Street Bob, and Heritage Classic— and now it gets a heart transplant in the form of the Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin, along with modern electronic wizardry and revised suspension.
Three flavors of the new Halrey 117 cubic-inch mill define the range: the Classic, Custom, and High Output (H.O.), each offering its own blend of torque, attitude, and that signature Harley lope.
The 2025 Harley-Davidson Softail Lineup Looks Better Than Ever
The Heritage Classic and Street Bob keep it old-school with the Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic, cranking out 98 horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque, wrapped in a traditional round air cleaner and a 2-into-1 exhaust.
The Fat Boy and Breakout get the 117 Custom, pushing 104 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a bigger intake and a 2-into-2 exhaust. Then there’s the bruiser: the Low Rider S and ST with the 117 H.O., topping the range at 114 horsepower and 128 lb-ft, with a high-flow Heavy Breather intake and an aggressive 2-into-1 exhaust.
For the first time, Harley’s Softails offer selectable ride modes—Road, Rain, and Sport—plus lean-sensitive ABS, traction control, and engine braking management. Suspension tweaks smooth out the ride, though travel remains the same, and the Fat Boy and Breakout lose their easy-access preload adjusters.
Across the board, LED lighting, a fresh LCD display, USB-C charging, and new switchgear modernize the lineup. The price of progress? A modest $500-$800 bump per model. But if you’re the kind of rider who measures life in miles instead of dollars, you’ll find plenty to love in Harley’s latest take on the American cruiser.
