Due to some European type-approval documents, it has been confirmed that the 2023 Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition—the more extreme version of the adventure bike—will be coming to the US. That said, there has been no official announcement yet.
2023 Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition – For Those Truly Wild Adventures
The Expedition version of the Norden 901 was first rumored in July and there have been social media videos and images swirling, but now with some documents spotted by Cycle World, it seems the bike will certainly be coming soon.
For the uninitiated, the Norden 901 takes the KTM 890 Adventure platform and reimagines it for the Husquvarna brand. This Expedition version of the bike will be the 890 Adventure R equivalent.
Details aren’t totally known, but you can bet on some improved, long-travel suspension and some minor visual changes at the very least. The 890 Adventure R gets a WP Xplor 48mm inverted front fork that offers up 9.5 inches of travel and a WP Xplor rear shock. I would expect a similar if not identical upgrade for the Expedition model.
The documentation Cycle World found shows no changes to the engine. The wheelbase is slightly longer due to the added length of the fork. Weight increases a little too, due to the upgraded suspension setup.
This is, of course, a smart move by Husqvarna. The brand has made the most of the KTM parts shelf while still making bikes that are all its own. There’s no reason why it wouldn’t continue to borrow equipment from KTM and restyle a similar package for a new audience. I expect Husky to sell plenty of these bikes.
