When it comes to motorcycle helmets, the full-face variant takes home the prize for being the safest. In my opinion, they also look the best.

Of all the types of motorcycle gear, a helmet is the thing I never leave the house without. And full-face helmets are most often what I put on. Because of this, I wanted to put together a list of what I think are the best full-face helmets out there.

What Is a Full-Face Helmet?

A full-face helmet is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a helmet that covers all parts of the head and has a chin bar and face shield that cover the face. With all of this coverage, these helmets are easily the safest option, and what I most often recommend to riders, both new and old.

I scoured the product listings, did some research, read a ton of reviews, and wore and reviewed several different helmets in order to pull together this list of the best helmets on sale. Here are my top picks.

1. Arai Corsair-X Helmet

Arai Corsair-X Helmet

The Arai Corsair-X is the king of full-face helmets in my mind. This helmet has a near-perfect rating by those who have purchased it, and it’s made with some of the best materials available (Arai uses the best materials). It also comes in a ton of colorways and graphics.

The Corsair-X features Arai’s PB SNC2 Shell, which is a unique blend of synthetic fibers blended into proprietary resin. The helmet also has the Variable Axis System on the face shield (Pinlock included), over a dozen vents throughout, a fully removable interior and neckroll with comfort padding, and speaker pockets. This helmet comes DOT and Snell 2020 approved.

2. Arai Regent-X Helmet

If you want a premium helmet but the Corsair-X is out of your price range, Arai still has you covered with the Regent-X full-face helmet. The Regent-X is considerably cheaper but offers a similar design and materials.

While the Regent-X doesn’t offer quite the same things as the Corsair-X, the helmet has the same PB SNC2 Shell, the Variable Axis System (Pinlock not included), amazing ventilation, a removable interior, and speaker pockets. This helmet is also DOT and Snell 2020 approved.

3. Shoei RF-1400 Helmet

If Arai doesn’t scratch you where you itch, I highly suggest you check out that Shoei RF-1400 helmet. Shoei is another company that just builds amazing, high-quality helmets. The RF-1400 is a great example.

The RF-1400 has a shell made of lightweight blend of fiberglass and organic fibers. It has a dual layer of multi-density EPS foam, CWR-F2 system for the faceshield (Pinlock included), fully removable interior liner, a ventilation system with numerous intake and exhaust vents, breath guard, and chin curtain. You’ve got love Scorpion helmets, and the EXO-R1 Air is on of the company’s best. This helmet is stylish and safe, and there’s even a carbon fiber option if you want a carbon shell. The non-carbon version is what we’re talking about here, though.

5. Biltwell Gringo SV Helmet

Biltwell is one of the kings of the retro gear scene, and the Gringo SV Helmet brings some modern touches to a classic design. This helmet birthed from the standard Gringo, and it’s a truly great helmet in my mind.

The Gringo SV features an injection-molded ABS outer shell, venting all around, adjustable vents above the eye-port, dual-density EPS, molded urethane chin bar pad, chin strap with fleece Lycra and a double D-ring retention system, polycarbonate face shield, removable fleece comfort liner and cheek pads, and ear pockets for speakers. I’ve owned a few HJC helmets in my riding life, and I find the i10 helmet to be one of the best for the money. It’s not an expensive helmet, and it really does bring a lot to the table, including good looks.

Scorpion has several really good helmets. you’re probably not going to go wrong if you choose to buy one of the company’s helmets, but I will say that the Scorpion EXO-R420 helmet is one of its best. I highly recommend it, especially at its affordable price tag.

The helmet features an advanced polycarbonate shell that’s aero-tuned, anti-scratch face shield, tons of venting to keep you cool, a removable KwikWick II anti-microbial interior liner, and speaker pockets. The helmet is DOT and Snell M2020 approved.

I have included the Bell Qualifier on other lists of great helmets, and it’s for a reason. The helmet is good, really good, especially for the price tag that the company slaps on this thing.

I wear my Biltwell Lane Splitter all the time. It is one of my favorite helmets. It’s badass and comfortable and provides a good amount of protection. It’s also not wildly expensive for a high-quality helmet.

The Lane Splitter’s list of features might not be as long as some other helmets, but it’s still great. The helmet offers an ABS shell, EPS liner, UV-rated anti-fogging face shield, a removable hand-sewn Lycra liner with diamond stitching, speaker pockets, and a double D-ring chin strap closure system. Sedici Strada 3 Helmet

A good middle-of-the-road option, the Sedici Strada 3 helmet looks good on multiple types of bikes, and will work for many different riders. It’s not the coolest helmet out there, but it’s more than competent.
