Kawasaki has officially announced the return of its iconic Ninja ZX-6R and Ninja ZX-6R ABS models for the 2027 model year.
Long considered a staple in the middleweight supersport segment, the platform retains its signature 636cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine paired with an Assist & Slipper clutch, offering strong street usability alongside track-focused high-rpm performance.
Long Live the New Kawasaki ZX-6R
Designed to balance aggressive track capabilities with everyday road riding, the Kawasaki ZX-6R features a race-derived chassis, dual 310mm front brake discs, and sticky Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires.
Front suspension duties are handled by a Showa SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston), complemented by a fully adjustable Showa rear shock absorber.
Visually, the bike shares aggressive design cues with its flagship sibling, the Ninja ZX-10R, including a multi-layered front fairing, a sporty windscreen, and compact LED headlights.
The 2027 ZX-6R comes loaded with a comprehensive electronics suite. Riders get access to integrated riding modes, customizable power modes, the Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-lock Brake System (KIBS), Kawasaki TRaction Control (KTRC) with three performance settings, and a standard Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS).
A 4.3-inch color TFT display provides clear instrument readouts and seamlessly connects to smartphones via Kawasaki’s Rideology app.
For 2027, the non-ABS ZX-6R will be available in four distinct color schemes: classic Lime Green, Galaxy Silver, Metallic Matte Twilight Blue, and Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Flat Spark Black.
The ABS variant shares those options, excluding the Galaxy Silver finish. By keeping its screamer 636cc four-cylinder engine alive, Kawasaki continues to cater to enthusiasts seeking traditional supersport performance in a market increasingly dominated by parallel-twins.
