Aprilia just handed young riders something they’ve been waiting for: the 2026 RS 457 GP Replica, a machine that bridges the gap between affordable sportbike fun and genuine MotoGP credibility.
The standard RS 457 has already proven itself as a legitimate player in the A2 license class, and this new GP Replica variant takes that foundation and dresses it up with the imagery and hardware you’d see on Aprilia Racing’s prototype machine.
What makes the GP Replica different isn’t just cosmetic.
You get a quick shifter standard, meaning clutchless upshifts and downshifts just like on the race bikes. Higher-friction brake pads go in for more bite, and the passenger seat is replaced with a single-seat cover for that stripped-back track aesthetic. The aluminium frame and swingarm wear a matte black finish instead of the original sheen.
The Livery Steals the Show
The real draw here is the paint. Aprilia’s applied the same sponsor graphics and color scheme from the RS-GP MotoGP bike, blending glossy and matte black finishes in a way that makes this 457cc parallel twin look like it should be raced, not just ridden home from the dealership.
Mechanically, nothing’s changed from the standard RS 457, and that’s fine. The 35 kW parallel-twin engine still makes peak power at the upper rev range, the chassis remains one of the most agile in its class, and the electronics package is comprehensive: Ride-by-Wire throttle, selectable riding modes, adjustable ABS and traction control.
Dry weight sits at 159 kg, which gives you an unbeatable power-to-weight ratio for the A2 category. That’s the kind of spec sheet that makes experienced riders pause when they see what young riders are getting access to these days.
The Real Question
The RS 457 GP Replica is a statement bike. It’s saying that A2 riders don’t need to settle for learner bikes anymore; they can have genuine performance and genuine style wrapped together.
Whether the MotoGP livery converts into actual sales in the US market depends on availability and price, neither of which Aprilia has confirmed for North America yet. But if they bring it over at the right price point, it’s hard to see how the competition keeps up in the image department.
