Motorcycles – So Many Choices

The world of motorcycles is a robust one. There’s a motorcycle designed for pretty much every use out there. The companies selling bikes are trying to appeal to every area of the market from the folks who love to cruise to the racers to the adventurers.

Then there’s the custom bike scene. Geniuses, craftsmen, artists take motorcycles and turn them into rolling pieces of art.

I try to cover a little bit of it all. From the new bikes rolling off the production lines at the various motorcycle manufacturers to the littlest of custom shops and individuals tinkering around in their sheds.

Types of Motorcycles

Here are the main types of motorcycles I typically write about on this site.

Note that this isn’t an exhaustive list, and the article linked above about the different types of motorcycles will explain the full picture.

Motorcycle Brands

The fun doesn’t stop with the various types of motorcycles. There are also tons of brands that sell each type of motorcycle. I’ve written an article on the different motorcycle brands out there, and that should give you a pretty clear idea of what you’ll find.

Motorcycle Engine Size

Motorcycle type and the different brands matter a ton, but I often find myself and other riders classifying motorcycles by their engine size or displacement.

This is typically how the industry categorizes motorcycles. You’ll see a 250cc class, a 600cc class, etc. To learn more, check out my article on the various engine sizes out there in the world of motorcycles.

Motorcycles and Prices

Lastly, I want to talk about the price of motorcycles. Everyone has to work in a budget, and you can buy a nice bike for very little money, but you can also spend a ton.

Price is a big deciding factor, and I would hope you take it into account. Here are my thoughts on motorcycles and their prices.

This is a killer limited edition motorcycle!

Morgan Gales got together with Brad Richards, the president of design and creative director of motorcycles at Harley-Davidson, to discuss the new Harley-Davidson FXRST Low Rider El Diablo limited edition motorcycle.

The bike is a truly special machine. Brad goes into detail in the video above showcase what makes this ride a unique motorcycle. He says it’s an evolution of the Low Rider ST bike that’s already out there.

Aprilia Tuareg 660 vs Yamaha Tenere 700 Video Comparison

Two killer middleweight adventure motorcycles going head-to-head.

Plenty of adventure riders are doing the comparison between the Aprilia Tuareg 660 vs Yamaha Tenere 700.

But most of them will just be comparing these bikes on paper. Motorcycle.com on the other hand had a chance to get in the saddle of these adventure machines and do the head-to-head versus thing right.

In the video above you’ll see what came out of that matchup. While these two bikes are similar on paper, it’s all about how the components come together.

Buell-Powered SR1 Roadster by RD Kustoms

To be completely honest, most customs look a lot alike, but this Buell-powered SR1 Roadster from RD Kustoms is something different.

The evolution of the machine is genuinely a worthwhile read, but let’s talk about what this bike has on it.

Kong Kid Honda Monkey by K-Speed

This Honda Monkey built by K-Speed and named Kong Kid is an absolutely silly and awesome bike.

I love the Honda Monkey. It’s a great little 125cc motorcycle by itself, and it’s also a fantastic platform to build a cool custom.

K-Speed took the Monkey to new heights with this blacked-out beauty, which was recently featured on Pipeburn.

Yamaha TR1 by DNA Custom Cycles

This is a truly special machine.

This gorgeous machine is the Yamaha TR1 built by the wizards over at DNA Custom Cycles. This bike is a gorgeous example of thinking outside the box.

Every bit about this machine has been painstakingly crafted from the various carbon fiber bits to the 1065cc engine that was dramatically reworked.

The fine folks over at Pipeburn had a hand in writing up a full profile, but I felt the need to share it here.

Yamaha MT-10 First Ride Review Video

One of the best bikes in its class.

For the 2022 model year, you’ll find a new Yamaha MT-10 in the company’s lineup. Recently, Cycle World had a chance to check out what this bike is all about.

The machine features a new engine, new electronics, chassis updates, and new styling. It’s basically a brand new bike.

It’s a fun and interesting topic, and as usual, Ari takes things a step beyond the typical motorcyclist. Watch the video above.
