What is the Quantum of Solace Motorcycle Daniel Craig Rides?

One of the coolest motorcycles from any James Bond film.

The James Bond movies are known for great vehicles, and one of my favorites is the Quantum of Solace motorcycle Daniel Craig rides while playing the role of 007. The bike is only in Quantum of Solace for a short period of time, but it makes an impact.

In the Quantum of Solace scene above, you see 007 jumping the motorcycle. This is a great scene, but there are several other quick scenes that show off the bike well.

In this and other scenes, you can see that the bike is a modified Honda Montesa Cota 4RT motorcycle to look a bit more like a scrambler. The custom Honda brings a bit of that trials, badass style to the movie, and makes me want to own a Montesa Cota 4RT.

It’s clear why the director chose this bike for this scene. James Bond needed to be able to jump the bike onto a boat and then ride across it. A trials machine like the Montesa Cota is perfect for this job.

The Honda Cota 4RT trail bike is a motorcycle manufactured by the Spanish operation of Honda. It is a bike specifically designed for trails competition, and it was heavily modified for the purposes of the film.

According to The James Bond Dossier, Montesa was formed in 1944 and was successful in the trials world starting with its 95cc models. The model you see in the film is a bike with a displacement of 258.9 cubic centimeters. It’s a four-stroke engine.

Trials bikes typically don’t have a seat due to the nature of the riding the riders do, where they hardly sit on the bike, and they’re constantly going over seemingly impassable obstacles.

This is what makes Daniel Craig’s James Bond so impressive in the movie and the Montesa 4RT such an obvious choice. He rides the bike over some obstacles that seem nearly impossible.
