The New 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT

Suzuki GSX-S1000GT

Suzuki has had a lineup that honestly wasn’t too thrilling to me, but that has changed with the addition of the 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT.

This sport-touring motorcycle is a seriously enticing machine built to make those long rides a little more thrilling.

This is a worldwide bike that will be sold starting in October 2021, so if you like what you see here, you’d better get ready for your new bike.

The new GSX-S1000GT is a sporty grand touring machine, hence the name and that means it comes with not only a potent powerplant (more on that in a second) but some advanced rider aids and conveniences.

This bike gets Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS). What that system includes is Suzuki Drive Mode Selector with three ride modes, Suzuki Traction Control System with five different settings, Bi-directional Quick Shift System which allows clutchless shifting up or down.

Additionally, there’s a 6.5-inch full-color TFT LCD screen for the instrument cluster. This system connects to the SUZUKI mySPIN app, providing access to maps, music, phone calls, and more. It works with iOS and Android smartphones.

The engine on this bike is a good one. It’s a 999cc inline four-cylinder derived from the GSX-R but reworked. US performance numbers haven’t gone public yet, but for Europe, it makes 150 hp and 78 lb-ft of torque. It’s not a real screamer, but for sport touring purposes, this engine will do very well.

For suspension, you have a fully adjustable 43mm KYB inverted fork at the front and a link-type suspension in the rear that has adjustment for rebound damping and preload.

Braking is mostly handled by Brembo, with dual radial-mount monoblock four-piston calipers and 310mm discs at the front. A Nissin single-piston setup at the rear.

Suzuki didn’t release US pricing, but in the UK, you’re looking at an £11,599 price tag. All told, that’s not a terrible price for what is certainly a killer machine.
