India’s electric motorcycle market just got faster. Avore, a startup based in Ahmedabad, launched its first electric motorcycle today with enough performance to rival a traditional 150cc bike and a design that looks like it came from a sportbike shop, not a commuter lot.
The EX2S model sits at the top of Avore’s three-tier lineup, packing a 10.5 kW motor that delivers around 14.2 horsepower and a 5 kWh battery promising more than 260 kilometers on a single charge. It’s performance without pretense.
Why India’s EV Market Needs This Bike
Electric two-wheelers have boomed in India over the past few years, but they’ve been dominated by practical commuters and pizza delivery bikes. What’s been missing is something riders actually want to ride for fun.
The Avore EX2S changes that equation. Sharp LED headlight, split seat, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a large digital display give it a presence that costs significantly less than gas-powered middleweights in the same performance bracket. The suspension uses telescopic forks and a rear monoshock, with disc brakes and single-channel ABS handling the stopping duties.
The Price-to-Performance Gamble
At roughly ₹1.70 lakh (about $2,050 USD), the EX2S undercuts most new petrol bikes with comparable power and styling. Early buyers get a discount, dropping launch pricing to ₹1.70 lakh for the first 10,000 customers.
The trade-offs exist: charging time wasn’t officially announced, and while 260 kilometers is respectable, it’s still shorter than you’d get from most traditional middleweight commuters on a single tank. City riders in metro areas will find this bike’s range enough for most days. Highway touring? That’s a different story.
Avore’s success depends on whether Indian riders see electric as a lifestyle upgrade or just a cheaper option. The EX2S is designed to appeal to the former crowd.
