Insta360 has officially unveiled its new flagship camera, the X6, bringing major hardware and software upgrades to 360-degree action capture. Pricing starts at $699.99 for the standard package. The X6 moves the needle by pairing custom dual Sony 1/1.1-inch sensors with a triple AI chip system.
Delivering 33 percent more sensor area and four times the light sensitivity compared to the previous X5, the action camera captures full spherical 360-degree footage at resolutions up to native 8K at 50fps, while also offering native in-camera Dolby Vision support.
An Motorcycle Specific Camera
Designed around a versatile 3-in-1 ecosystem, the X6 functions seamlessly as a full 360 camera, an AI subject-tracking flat camera, and a traditional single-lens action camera.
In single-lens mode, users can shoot standard wide-angle flat video up to 5K at 60fps or ultra-wide 170-degree FOV clips. For riders looking to capture quick content on the go, the new InstaFrame 2.0 feature locks onto subjects to deliver flat 4K clips directly out of the camera without requiring a manual reframing step.
To improve real-world usability on the road, Insta360 equipped the X6 with several motorcycle-friendly upgrades. An upgraded four-microphone array features an intelligent wind-reduction system paired with a dedicated “Hidden Engine Mic” designed specifically to filter out high-speed helmet wind noise while capturing crisp, rich engine exhaust tones.
Additionally, the camera supports specialized motorcycle mounting kits, automatic dashcam loop recording, and telemetry overlays displaying real-time speed and GPS data.
Physically, the X6 introduces a more compact form factor that is roughly 25mm shorter than its predecessor, making it easier to mount onto handlebars, mirrors, or helmet chins.
The camera features a 2.32-inch OLED touchscreen rated at 1,200 nits of peak brightness for visibility in direct sunlight, along with full-screen press controls that allow easy operation while wearing riding gloves. It carries 47GB of usable onboard storage, is waterproof down to 20 meters without a case, and utilizes Replaceable Lenses 2.0, which offer five times better scratch resistance.
Powering the X6 is a new 2600mAh Xtreme Battery capable of up to 140 minutes of continuous 8K30fps recording on a single chargeāa 51 percent improvement over the outgoing model, with fast charging reaching 80 percent capacity in just 24 minutes.
On the software side, the camera introduces “PanoMind,” an on-device AI editing engine. When plugged in to charge, the system automatically analyzes captured footage, identifies highlight moments, and generates finished, ready-to-share video edits straight to the Insta360 app without needing cloud processing.
