The Alpinestars S-R7 A Core is a premium full-face sport helmet built on the same carbon composite platform as the S-R7 Zeal, sharing the core shell architecture while offering a different fit and feature configuration. It’s positioned for serious street and occasional track riders at a premium price point.
The S-R7 A Core shares that shell platform but adds Alpinestars’ patented A-Head fitment system, which lets you adjust both the height and angle the helmet sits on your head. Here’s what that means in practice.

Shell Construction
The S-R7 A Core uses an advanced multi-composite shell combining carbon fiber, aramid fiber, and fiberglass layers, all bonded with a pre-preg epoxy resin process. This construction delivers high radial strength, energy dissipation, and penetration resistance in a lightweight package. Three shell sizes cover XS through 2XL, with four separate EPS liner sizes for precise fit geometry across the range.
The shell is ECE 22.06 and DOT homologated dual certification that satisfies both US street legal requirements and the more demanding European standard. The aerodynamic design is clean and free of external features that could act as load points in an impact, with collarbone recesses on each side fitted with PLASMA inserts for high-performance shock absorption during a slide.

Inner Shell and Rotational Protection
The EPS liner uses seven pieces in six densities, strategically positioned for optimal impact absorption across impact zones and speeds.
The EPS surface features Alpinestars’ patented low-friction coating designed to reduce rotational acceleration of the brain during oblique impacts the same mechanism as MIPS but developed in-house.
According to Alpinestars, the S-R7 exceeds the ECE 22.06 Peak Rotational Acceleration standard by 80%.
A-Head Fitment System
The standout feature that distinguishes the A Core from other S-R7 variants is the patented A-Head fitment system (also found on the Supertech R10).
This allows riders to fine-tune both the height and angle at which the helmet sits on the head an adjustment that’s particularly useful for riders who find standard helmets sit too high on the forehead or tilt in a way that affects sightlines. It’s a meaningful helmet fitment customization option that most helmets at any price don’t offer.
Visor System
The optical Class 1 ECE 22.06-homologated shield has double-sided anti-scratch treatment and varies from 1.6mm on the sides to 2.6mm in the center. The tool-less quick-release system allows pivotal rotation for a complete seal against the rubber window trim. A Pinlock 120XLT Max Vision anti-fog insert is included.

Ventilation
Ten ventilation ports six intake, four exhaust manage airflow. A slidable top vent mechanism opens three air channels for maximum cooling at speed. The ported EPS channels that air through the liner rather than leaving it to pool near the shell.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Multi-composite carbon, aramid, and fiberglass shell
- Patented A-Head system for height and angle fit adjustment
- Rotational protection built into the EPS coating
- ECE 22.06 and DOT certified
- Pinlock 120XLT included
- 220 degree peripheral vision
Cons:
- No integrated sun visor
- Sport-focused intermediate oval fit not ideal for round head shapes
- At this price, no Snell certification
The S-R7 A Core makes its case on the A-Head fitment system and the rotational protection built into the EPS two features that add real value beyond the shell construction. Riders who’ve struggled to find a helmet that sits at the right height and angle will find the A-Head system worth the price of entry alone.
